the great canon sell-off

We made the official switch to Nikon last month and I have been selling the Canon gear off in fits and spurts.  It’s time to get serious and get the rest of this stuff out of my house, though.  I’ll be adding pictures this week, but wanted to get the list out first (to be totally honest, product photography is not my forte and I’m hoping most of these will sell before I have to take them out of their boxes and actually photograph them).

Unless otherwise mentioned, all items are in like new condition with their original boxes (many boxes have had their UPC barcodes cut out).

All lenses are USA (not gray market) lenses.  The L series lenses have all been protected with UV filters (however the filters are staying with me).

Prices include shipping.

Lighting

580 EX (includes box but not case or the little foot stand, has velcro attached for use with radiopoppers) - $265

Gary Fong Lightsphere (opaque and for the 580EX [not EXII].  no packaging.) - $20

Battery pack for Canon flashes (these increase the recycle time of the flash incredibly–I wouldn’t shoot a wedding without one)  - $120

Battery pack for Canon flashes - $120

Lenses

50mm f/2.5 macro (6 months left on warranty)- $200

24-70 f/2.8 L ( 7 months left on warranty) - $1050

24-70 f/2.8L (no box, scuff marks on lens hood) - $800

135 f/2.0 L (scuff marks on lens hood, 4 months left on warranty) - $820

70-200 f/2.8 L IS (it kills me to sell this one) - $1450

Cameras

5d with battery grip + extra battery (just came back from a tune-up at Canon, 14 months old, only noticeable wear is on the mount for the flash [where there's that usual paint chipping]) -$1300

20d (3 years old, still works great–great as a back-up camera or for a first time DSLR user–the way the controls are laid out it’s easier to learn how to shoot in manual on the 10/20/30/40/50ds than on a Rebel) - $300

30d + extra battery (bought refurbished from Canon 7 months old, has 13 months left on warranty) - $450

If you have questions or want to purchase something, you can use the contact form (in the menu bar) or email me at traci @ realphotography.com (remove the spaces)

Christy - Welcome to the dark side, you'll love it!

baby marley | colorado springs newborn photographer

I got to meet baby Marley on Sunday.  She made it as a 2008 baby by just a hair–she was born on 9:30pm New Year’s Eve!  That made her four days old at our shoot, so we were able to a bunch of different things in a short time span.  She was just sleeping no matter how we wiggled her or wrapped her or moved her around!  I know I say it a lot, but getting the newborns in to their session before they are a week old makes a world of difference in the quality and ease of the shoot!

I’m in love with her.

But so is Will.

colorado_springs_baby_photographer02

(Marley’s big sister Taylor is BFFs with Will, so we did the shoot here at the house and I didn’t send Will off with Nic, because we thought that Taylor and Will could play together.  Except Will took one look at Marley and decided she was the new girl for him. )  I can’t really blame him.  Marley is one cute baby!

colorado_springs_baby_photographer05

Like my new Thunder Gray backdrop paper?  It’s so hot right now.  (Seriously, it’s pretty much the Hansel of the photography world.)

colorado_springs_baby_photographer06

Taylor is a cute big sister and color AND black and white.  I can’t decide, so I’m showing both.  :)

Heather is such a beautiful momma!

Want to see more behind-the-scenes shots?  Like how Will went and sat down next to Taylor as we got her all situated?  Cause who doesn’t need a dragon in their Sisters Shot?

colorado_springs_baby_photographer08

My total favorite:

colorado_springs_baby_photographer09

(I’d been trying to get Taylor to stand behind Heather and give her a hug.  Will had apparently been watching and listening from the sidelines, because as we tried to convince Taylor that getting a family photo was more interesting than Will’s toy workbench, Will inserted himself into the shot.  Keith’s face is totally priceless!)

And my two favorite “woe is me–photoshoots are hard” poses from Marley…

winter engagement shoot photos featured on weddingbee!

One of our brides just let me know that a few of our portraits from engagement shoots in the snow were featured on Weddingbee!  We love it when our photos are used on wedding sites or blogs–if you’re considering using our photos or see them up somewhere, please give us a shout–we love to see them, and will happily resize the images for the site’s needs!

Christy - Gorgeous, simply gorgeous. Love this in B&W.

Rachel - congrats on the feature, and that shot is stunning!!

Laura G - That's a very brave bride to be trudging through the snow in what I assume are high heels? Or is she actually wearing boots under that dress? Anyway, great picture, I can't wait to see the rest of the preview!

Isabel - Totally FANTASTIC! I love it!

New York City | Photos from my Free Day

When I travelled to New York to photograph Shelli and Chris, I flew out Monday evening so that I could enjoy wandering the city during the day.   I had a bunch of places that I wanted to see, and very little time to do it, so I prioritized and ended up with cupcakes, rice pudding, and shopping.  :)

Here are some of my personal pictures from the trip.

From our time in Central Park:

I had read about the Marie Antoinette wedding theme trend, but hadn’t seen if for myself until I saw this shop window…

Cupcakes and the window display at Magnolia Bakery:

I completely fell in love with the West Village and would give my right arm to do an engagement shoot there.  When I got there Monday morning I spent a fair amount of time punching myself for not taking Shelli and Chris there the day before.

It was all decked out for Christmas:

A stop at Pearl River Mart in Soho was a must.  I brought one of these happy cups home for Willie:

I love boxes and neutrals:

colorado_springs_photographer12

Because I came with only my camera bag and an exceptionally small carry on, I knew I was going to have a souvenirs problem.  My best idea of the whole year was planning a trip to the Post Office at the end of the day to stuff a priority mail flat rate box full of goodies.  Priority mail flat rate box?  $10.  Checking luggage?  $30 each way.

My box was stuffed with some goodies from Anthropologie.  (In college I lived within walking distance of an Anthropologie, but it had been years since I’d gotten to go inside one!)  So here’s a happy Traci in the Anthropologie dressing room (after I got back from the trip I learned there is one in Denver, which sorta killed the awesomeness of the experience for me):

One of the things I was most looking forward to was a trip to Purl Soho and their sister fabric store.  I’ve shopped there online for years and was looking forward to seeing it in real life.  Nothing could have prepared me for how TINY it was.  I got some yarn for new gloves and fabric for newborn shoots.

colorado_springs_photographer16

colorado_springs_photographer18

I thought this was a brilliant idea.  I have a terrible fabric stash addiction slight but totally normal love of fabric, and think this would be a fun way to display some of my favorite fabrics.

colorado_springs_photographer17

My last stop (besides the post office where I made a fool of myself because I’ve never before experienced interacting with postal employees that were behind bullet-proof glass and refuse to just take a box from me like a normal human being giving a box to another normal human being) was Rice to Riches, a rice pudding lover’s heaven.   It’s like Cold Stone Creamery but with rice pudding.  I had gone with Shelli and Chris the night I arrived, and knew I needed another stop before I left.  Total yumminess.

colorado_springs_photographer19

Right before I jumped in the cab I snapped this shot.  I loved all the sidewalk Christmas tree vendors.  The big trees seemed sort of ridiculous, but these little ones seem just right for an apartment!

colorado_springs_photographer20

Laura G - What fun! Sorry I told you about the Anthropologie... I didn't mean to ruin your special day ;) I'm like totally craving a cupcake now...

Mom - Fabulous! I laughed so much at your 'slight' fabric addiction! Thanks for sharing these amazing pics. I am so happy that you got a shot of the Chrysler Building (reminds me of thousands of hours that you guys--Kelly in particular--listened to Annie!) What fun it was to see these! I dream of someday seeing NY with my girls! Kisses, me

Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer - Ha! I spent a large part of the trip trying not to sing songs from Annie!

baby albums | colorado springs wedding photographer

This fall two new adorably little sample albums came in.  I’ve been meaning to share them here, but I actually have a backlog of album pictures to share!  Hopefully I’ll get all caught up in the next couple of weeks.

The first is our new engagement photo album meant as a guest sign-in book.  It took me a long time to come up with something that met my standards but is still affordable enough to be a guest sign-in book!  A custom designed 10 spread 5×5 album is $350.  We need about 2 months notice to have these in time for the wedding.

The second is my new favorite product–the mini flushmount.  We’re been offering them all year, but I finally got our sample this fall and it is just so cute and little!  It’s barely bigger than an ornament!

I am really happy with the detail retained in even the smallest photos.
