Kristy and her crew came to the studio to catch this time in their family before little Chloe outgrows all her baby-ness!

I absolutely love their outfits–what great bright colors–they look so fantastic together!  My two favorite photos  from the shoot are the whole family walking together–lots of little gestures of love going on there, and the shot of Jason being tackled by the kiddos.  I think that photo sums up parenthood!

Caden’s momma brought him to the studio for his 2 year portraits.  She wanted something outdoors and relaxed.  Caden was such a sweetie and he has the most incredible blue eyes!

Mom - That’s an amazing shot of those gorgeous blue eyes!

Tracy W. - Yeah! I can’t wait to see the rest of the pix…I think it’s going to be impossible to just pick 1 or 2! Thanks again–we had such a great time with you. Caeden couldn’t stop talking about Miss Traci and the bubbles :)

six months of ellie

There’s nothing like a baby to remind you of how fast time flies.  Today marks 6 months since Ellie was born, and so I’m taking time out from the shoot sneak peeks to share a few personal photos of the blur of the last six months!

I was taking a shot of Will and Ellie hanging out in Nic’s office chair earlier this week when I realized that I have a whole collection of photos of them in that same spot.  Time to put them together!

I didn’t execute this next one in the best way–if I could do it again I’d go for a white background and use a gray card to get them all to match AND I’d start with “0″ when we brought her home from the hospital, but it’s still very fun to see her grow.  Every month I dig into my fabric stash and cut out the appropriate number.  I use fusible web to applique it onto a white lap shirt, pop on the matching FuzziBunz diaper, and away we go!  Having a cute colored bottom is one of the best perks of cloth diapering! :)

red rocks park | mt vernon event center | colorado wedding photographers

Melissa and Derek were married at Red Rocks Park with their reception at Mt Vernon Event Center on July 3rd.  If you want unique wedding ideas, Melissa is the girl to talk to!

Their wedding was chalk full of unique details–many of which I hadn’t seen before (and that’s saying something)!  I’m saving some pictures for our wedding ideas series that I’m going to start in the fall, but here are just some of the cool details that Melissa had:  a quilt for everyone to sign that included some of their engagement photos, custom dress hangar, a flower ceremony in the same theme as a sand ceremony, super cute wedding programs, shoes that her bridesmaids signed in blue, gerber daisy and lime centerpieces, pink uplighting, heart shaped sparklers, and custom matchbooks.

Melissa and Derek love Colorado and wanted a lot of the unique Colorado scenery in their portraits.  With their ceremony at Red Rocks Park, it was easy to create some majestic Colorado portraits!

Edited to add…totally forgot to give credit to the amazing vendors that day–sorry!  Danielle from Something Classic Events provided the day of coordination and did an incredible job pulling together all of the details that made the wedding so beautiful, along with the florist, Dawn from Hillside Consultants.

Melissa and Derek’s Wedding Details: Ceremony site: Red Rocks Park, Reception venue: Mount Vernon Event Center, Coordination:Something Classic Events, Flowers: Hillside Consultants, Cake: Colorado Rose Cake Company

family portrait photographer | the coopers

While in Seattle earlier this month, my aunt asked if I’d photograph their family.  Of course!  Because of our tight timing, we ended up doing the shoot immediately after JJ’s 8th birthday party at my grandpa’s pool.  This is not generally recommended for anyone under 30, but the kids did really well, and their parents managed not to kill them under the stress (I can’t say I would have done as well under the circumstances!).  Gretchen picked the most perfect location–I could tell she knew what I like when she mentioned that the spot had lots of tall weeds!
