Eloise’s grandparents were visiting, so great lifestyle portraits with them were one of our top priorities!  And of course, I also wanted one big giant smile shot from Eloise, who obliged me with this one almost immediately after I walked in the door!

I love that we have this fantastic candid of Eloise reading with her grandfather.  I know when she grows up she’ll treasure it as much as I treasure a similar portrait of me with my Poppa!

Another great reading moment of Eloise with her momma.  Books will be big in her life–her baby shower was a book shower!

After spending some time inside we went for a walk to their favorite park a couple of blocks from their house.  I want a stroller as comfy as theirs–it’s incredible!

Gotta love a happy baby in a swing!

This is my favorite shot of the night–fantastic dramatic light, the mountains behind them, and a great evening walk.

Nic is sort of a scrooge about Easter. Well, only one part of Easter: the dyeing egg part. Apparently, he has been this way since before time itself. He says “I don’t understand the point.”

Ummmm….maybe he should have told me this BEFORE we got married. The point of dyeing Easter eggs is that it is AWESOME. Color is good. Making eggs a color is good.

I knew that Will would understand this. The child who plays for hours with all of my different fabric scraps, the child who adores crayons, would surely get the joy of coloring eggs.

What Nic could get behind, though, was an opportunity to try out some of our new lighting accessories. Based on Scott Kelby‘s recommendations, we picked up a few things last week, a justin clamp being one of them. It would have been a teeny bit crazy to stick a light stand up in our small dining area, but this clamped on nicely to our pantry door, providing the perfect spot for an off camera flash:

And so I had two happy boys on Easter evening. One had blue fingers, though.

I want to talk about lenses (those I love and those I’ve let go) on one of the photography Tuesdays, so I won’t say much more than: if you don’t have it, you need it.

And share these fun test shots. (I wasn’t the only one who got presents today–Will’s presents from his grandparents’ trip to Disneyland arrived while he was napping, too.)

And one that makes my heart melt. I am very lucky to be the recipient of lots and lots of love and hugs and face smashing.

Nic was firing off some snapshots after dinner testing out he likes the 135mm focal length (hmmm…I wonder why he would be doing that…[cough--UPS man come soon--cough]) while I was giving Will his usual “Baby Needs Kisses” kisses. When going through the shots I couldn’t believe he caught this one–Will couldn’t have posed it better if he had tried!

I think it sums Will up perfectly–a little boy who loves kisses and is just the tiniest bit fancy.

Although from the looks of things, he also enjoys surfin’ the net…

I had to be a little bit sneaky to get her onto the blanket. I told her that all the big girls have their pictures taken on the blanket, but since she was pretty little, I wasn’t sure that she was up to it. I’ve never seen a toddler move faster.
